Football Season Recap

Aine Cruit, Sports Reporter

The number of Niwot football games this season was limited due to COVID-19. Because of COVID-19, the game schedule was affected by a late season start. According to head coach Nicolas Blume, the team lost 4-5 seniors at the start of the season due to COVID-19 and the late start. The head coach stated, “We had two weeks this season where we lost our original opponent to quarantine and had to game plan for a new team at the last second. This is never typical of a regular season.”

The team faced many challenges in the beginning, but Blume says that despite these challenges the team “took it in stride and battled hard” throughout every game in the season. When asked how he felt about this season Blume stated, “Gratitude is the word I would use for this season… I have always used football as a way to teach life lessons. Our boys learned so much about adversity this year, how to respond in the midst of so much uncertainty, and how to come together as a family when it’s needed the most.” He goes on to say that he looks forward to next season and continues to have a positive attitude in the face of change.
